simply happy

so this layout, well cathy zielske is officially in love with it. and that makes me a little giddy inside.

cathy was hosting the simple studio blog this last week in preparation for national scrapbook day. she had a new challenge up every day. thursday was the self-portrait challenge. not really a challenge for me, as you might know, i'm all about taking my own picture. i know which angle is good. i can delete all the ucky ones. well i decided to combine that challenge with a few others:

1. the pub ad challenge
2. the journaling challenge
3. the method playground challenge
4. the common margins challenge (also from the simple studio blog)

follow my thought processes:

i went to lunch with my friend a and we were talking about the journaler's junction challenge. i said i had my 6 word memoir, i just didn't the right picture. she inspired me to take some simple pictures of me listening and talking. cz's challenge about self portraits made me realize i hadn't taken one in a while, so i turned on iphoto and had a fun time playing in the comic book mode. when i printed them on linen bazzill they turned out even funkier. i designed everything according to the pub ad challenge because it had just the right amount of room for journaling. the circles came from watching wendy smedley on abc. i realized if i trimmed the cardstock down a bit and left the circles hanging over the edge, it would work for the method and common margins challenge as well. cute circles are october afternoon and fancy pants papers.

see, it went a little haywire in a very good way.

so after winning the our reader's gallery pick as well, it's been a very good week for me. i love simple scrapbooks.

p.s. my blog's wider. does it fit on your screen? i still can't figure out the third column, but i will!

Love the new blog look, and the banner, and the layout, and you. :-) And it definitely fits on my screen, but you've seen how big that is, right? ;-) xoxo

I'm not sure I like you anymore. You're just way too organized and you intimidate me. 1 layout fits 4 challenges? LOL!

AWESOME on the wins! It is a wonderful layout. Love how the circles hang over the edges!!!

That is so wild -- I looked at your layout and said to myself, "That's the MiracleGro ad I just ripped out of my Rachael Ray mag and stuck on my bulletin board this afternoon" -- and when I checked your Pub ad link, I was right! :) Very cool layout -- and kudos on an excellent interpretation of the design. :)
