i'm sensing a little digital goddessness

i am taking an nycscraps.com online class from the fabulous paula gilarde on beginning digital scrapbooking. the thing that was holding me back was the idea of brushes. i can't wrap my brain around that concept as of yet (that was yesterday's lesson, but i'm a couple of lessons behind, which is why i'm not doing a CHA post because that would take too long and i really need to catch up on my class assignments tonight--run on sentence there, just dropped down on the readability i'm thinking...)

i was trying to say that the idea of brushes has always frightened me, that's why i've never really tried digital, i did dabble in it once and wasn't happy with the results, it didn't look 'real' enough for me.

enter paula. in my opinion, she's one of the best digi scrappers around because her pages look real. so i signed up for the class, i'm behind like i mentioned, but i'm having a blast trying to get my pages to look a little bit like hers. i do the assignments, but i play with the elements a lot more than we are taught and i think i'm getting some results. i think i just might be converted. don't worry, i'm not giving up paper, but this is kind of fun. so much fun in fact that since 2peas is having a sale on all digi kits, i dropped a little bit of cash over there today. can't wait to start playing with those elements...

here's my second page. every element in the layout is katie pertiet, she made a kit exclusively for the class, how cool is that? i turned the font into acrylic letters. i made the brads. they look fine when you zoom in, but they are wonky shadow wise at regular viewing distance. oh well, it's all a big experiment.

page 3 is not going as well...

ETA: i ended up liking it a lot. it's for the journaling challenge this week at journaler's junction. see side bar for link....

background (recolored and lightened), stripe, and polka dot are all michelle coleman
ribbon, safety pin w/tags, and stitching (recolored) are katie pertiet
fonts are orator Std and LainieDaySH

Hi Emily, it's BabyBokChoy, Jing-Jing for that matter, or my yet another alias on Blogger as the squared one :) I used to be Jing Jing without the dash, so the squared made mathematical sense, now I have a hyphen, so really, I am zero :) Oh gosh, if you didn't catch any of that, move right on along!!! I am excited that you are taking this digital class, I wish I had known earlier!! I really would like to take this class too, you think they still take new students? Also, I've been reading your D.C. trip as I'm going there in just three weeks! Your blogging about it has been so valuable to read!! especially about expectations etc, and your comment about preparing your kids for Europe in a couple of years :) anyway, love love love everything I've read so far!!! I could go on, but others can read this, I'll try to control my lovefest :) hugs...
