getting organized and a scrap pink fundraiser

well, here's hoping! i finished decorating my new planner. i used it sporadically last week, but this week i've been diligent and gotten a LOT done. i just haven't made blogging one of the things to do, thus i haven't done it. makes sense :) to create the phrase, i arranged the words in photoshop, making sure they all fit into a 6x9 rectangle well. i printed it then taped it to the front of the notebook. while i was at the pool, watching my kids, i 'debossed' the outline of each letter so i had a copy of the phrase traced onto the cover. the cover was pretty soft, so the debossing worked really well. i then painted as best i could inside each letter, let the paint dry, traced with a pen, then added a layer of glossy accents. a few of the letters weren't painted and i really like the effect the glossy accents made when applied to the plain kraft cover. i think it looks really cool. the butterfly is a stamp i got in my august studio calico kit. they still have some kits available ;)... i just painted on the stamp and then applied, adding the pen outline and glossy accents. i love the look!

september is almost half way over! at the end of the month, i'm going to be participating in a sleepover crop sponsored by my favorite scrapbook store, scrapbook destination. mary kay has organized her second annual scrapPink event supporting the susan g. komen foundation. yes, i'm excited to have a weekend away scrapping, but it's even better because we're getting quite a few out of town guests coming for the event too. julie and becky from utah are coming. paula, suzy, and debi from massachusetts are coming. a bunch of us from the denver area are coming. it's going to be delightful! just writing about it is making me excited! :) wanna come too? you're more than welcome to take a trip out this way, denver is lovely in the fall!

i just finished this layout about the goals i set in january. it was good to revisit the goals and see where i am on them. i think i'm doing quite well really. i've added some, not even thought about others, but gotten pretty far on most of them.

i added 'take a photography class' to the list because one day this past summer, i was complaining to my husband that my pictures just didn't look as good as tina cockburn's. in his infinite wisdom he suggested maybe i should take a class or two on photography and learn to be like tina. duh, why didn't i think of that. so i'm taking a class this month, it's a four week session at the local community college. frankly, i'm a little nonplussed by all the terms and numbers, but i figure the only way i'm going to be like tina is to forge ahead. :)

good for you! I took a non-credit photo class last spring and loved it, really helped me grasp 'those funky terms'
