Congrats on being added to the design team! Beautiful work!

I will forever be grateful for Children's Hospital Central California, and specifically, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and all of their wonderful nurses and doctors who saved our almost-nine-month-old's life when he was sent there after being born prematurely. They treated us with respect and grace, even when we came in at all hours of the day, crying and just wanting to sit and hold our baby. They do incredible work there, and for that I am truly grateful.

Thanks!

Beautiful kit!!

This has been a tough year for us (hubby is out of work) so often I have to stop in the middle of the stress and remind myself of the things I have to be grateful for. Number 1 on that list is my baby girl - she makes me smile & laugh even in the worst of moments!! Beyond that, I am grateful for my husband as well as the rest of my incredibly supportive family. I think the stress would have buckled me before now without them!

Gratitude? Just today, we paid some guys to clear away a tree stump that had been there since Hurricane Ike blew the ~30 ft. pine tree down. My DH and I have said often to each other: what if the tree had fallen the OTHER way?? If it had, it would've fallen right onto our house and we would've suffered so much more damage than fallen trees and broken branches. Gratitude??
I thank my lucky stars that my family and my home are safe. I thank my stars that we ARE so lucky.

It's been a year since he was released from the NICU, and he bares little resemblance to the very sick little person he used to be. Got some great medical news yesterday and now I feel I have a new lease on life. These sorts of things have a way of making you appreciate what you have RIGHT NOW, today. Every year on Thanksgiving, as a family, we hand cut, string and label tags for the giving tree at church. Each week up to Christmas we add ornaments for parishoners to take, buy and return under the tree a gift. The week before Christmas my family again gathers to sort and distribute the gifts collected--all 600+ of them. We take them to caseworkers who handle children who have been taken from their parents, homeless shelters, poorer churches. We ask for first names only and what each child would like to get as a gift-most often they ask for something we all take for granted--a winter coat, socks, grocery store gift certificates for snacks! Our family started this 19 years ago-it was my brother's Confirmation service project and we do it as a family every year without outside help-except help buying the gifts.

Anyway, as this time of year approaches yet again, I am grateful that I am well enough off not to need this kind of help from strangers but grateful that if I did need it, it is there.
