with the first day of school pictures

ethan's first day was wednesday, annie didn't have to go until the next day. because he had signed up to be a student helper (web leader, web standing for something very helpful and very in charge, thus the pull to be one), this is ethan's first day outfit. seriously. i was a little disheartened, first day pictures mean a lot to this mama. but since this was technically his first day, i took pictures.

but thursday i took photos again because his outfit was much more first day-ish, something i must have for scrapping purposes. he gives me his best casual model pose :) and then something a little more ethan-like. this boy makes me crazy, but i wouldn't want him any other way, he brings much more joy to my life than crazy. i'm a lucky mama.

my last post, annie was lamenting the clothing selections available to her. wednesday we headed out one more time to see if we could find the perfect first day outfit. i think we did a pretty good job.

old navy used to be a must stop on the shopping excursion in our house. they had the hidden elastic in the waistband and she's always had a tiny little waist. when she grew out of the girls sizes, none of the teen jeans ever fit so we stopped going there for school clothes. well on a hunch, i suggested we stop there and we both agree, we should have gone there in the first place. jeans weren't quite as perfect as delia's, but we did find one cut that barely needs a belt. she was ecstatic. and we found a RED dress (apparently it's a dream she's always had to own a red dress and yellow flats.) that wasn't too short. too short is an issue in our house. then she found this cute ruffly cardigan, sigh. and top it off with a fun fresh scarf (mind you, it was supposed to 90ยบ on thursday), and some new black flats. you have the perfect first day outfit. she was positively glowing. and that makes a mama happy.

still not much news to share on nana and tom. it's not looking good, tom's lung collapsed yesterday and apparently nana's not been conscious, even though her eyes are open. she's almost off the ventilator, so that's something to be hopeful about. we keep praying.

Ethan looked fab on both of his "first days" and I just adore Annie's outfit!!! I so want one! I will continue to keep Nana and Tom in my prayers...and I'm still sending virtual hugs your way constantly.

Annie...you go girl, 90 degrees or not, it's the outfit that counts on the first day, AND you look adorable! And that scarf would make a rockin' patterned paper for scrapping!
