i was so busy posting my layouts in all my online galleries, i forgot to post them on my blog! oops. so without further adeui, here are my october layouts/projects.
first off we have my 8x8 canvas. this is inspired by the artist leigh standley, aka curly girl. i've been a huge fan of her work, i buy her magnets and have her calendar on the wall right next to the computer. her style is just funky and always makes me smile. i tried to infuse her look into this project. i started with the maya road window, then searched for quotes on windows (i was NOT going to do a window-to-my-soul sort of layout :D), found this great one by mark twain, worked out a design and started cutting. very fun to put together.
remember that chair picture i posted last week? well this is the result. i'm pretty pleased with my cute chair :)
next comes the experiment in art. i had originally wanted to use the AC letters for the title, but then i thought it would be fun to spray them w/ mr. huey. when i was blotting them off w/ a tissue, i thought it would be fun to try and super saturate them, then using them as a stamp, having the mist bleed through and give me a cool looking title. well, it worked but not quite as well as i'd hoped. then i flipped the page over and saw it looked kind of cool backward, it was confusing, just like the conversation. so i went with the backside, and just started throwing things together. crazy experiment is all i can say :) the story is the funniest, so i'm glad i got it scrapped. i was listening to the abbott/costello skit "who's on first." it was just as funny as this conversation. :)
and finally, my nana layout. this one made me cry, but in a good way. i painted the text paper w/ white paint, stitched the journaling lines w/ pink thread, decided the pink wasn't pink enough, sprayed some pink mist on a tissue and wiped it across the painted surface. it gave a cool mottled effect then i did it again with silver mist. then i started writing. finished off w/ hand cut flowers and buttons. i'm really pleased with this one.
supplies used for these layouts and all the ones that didn't make it to the finish line this month include:
- on the easel (september's main kit)
- still life (add on)
- spun sugar distress ink
- spiced marmalade distress ink
- tumbled glass distress ink
- worn lipstick distress ink
- faded jeans distress ink
- mustard seed distress ink
- pink grapefruit mist
- bubblegum mist
- silver plated mist
- painterly pink paint
- sky blue paint
- yellow pastel paint
- foam circles
- this to that solid runner adhesive
- large circle border punch
- and you're going to want to get super seal if you don't already own it. helps keep the glitter where it should be. TOTALLY worth it. i promise.
- i also used mister huey in white and warm calico, see links to two peas and stop and scrap below my charlie's angels layout.
- fence/alphabet border
- sentiments
- doilies border
- heart/tag set
- typeset (my favorite)
and my final bit of news is this first day of a new month: i was honored to be the guest designer for my little shoebox. it was a dream to work with erin yamabe, and a good challenge for me to put together layouts and projects using the very happy and cheerful papers and products. bits and pieces of my work will be posted each thursday in october, so check it out!

i am such a fan...thank you so much for being our GUEST!
beautiful pages, emily!
LOVE your pages, emliy. love them ALL! i really love that top one because, how cute is that?! seriously!
the one with the chair, that is so matisse! matisse is my favorite.
I loved your "a misunderstanding" page...I never thought to scrap one of these 'parent trying to understand child' conversations. At Chad's age we have plenty! And it looks like that won't stop for a while ;-)
I was flipping through the latest issue of CK and your layouts kept catching my eye...then I realized..hey this is a Colorado chick...ME TOO! Thanks for all the inspiration...I'm a follower now :)
Absolutely beautiful journalling in Pink Lady Style. You had me giggling at "a misunderstanding" and grabbing a tissue with your very next layout. Good stuff.
Eeek! your pages are so full of yummy goodness, Emily. :) Love your writing!! Awesome.
