i've been neglectful

i mean come on, really, it's been a week since my last post! what fun things have i been up to, you ask? well sit back and get ready to be amazed...

on saturday, 6 of my piano students participated in the colorado federation of music clubs festival. they each had to memorize two pieces, one by a contemporary composer and any other one of their choice. they've been practicing and memorizing until they were blue in the face, but it was worth it. they scored very well, 2 excellents and 4 superiors. it was really fun to hear the glee in their voices when i called to tell them the results. i was really happy with how well they did. i've got some amazing students! now we're just getting ready for recital in a couple of weeks, i'm trying to memorize my piece, since i ask them to do it. it's HARD!

i was asked to be the guest designer for the color combo challenge this monday the 7th. here's the layout i made for it. i love it:

i got an assignment to do a layout from simple scrapbooks for the sept/oct issue. i was floating. just floating. i love that magazine and have been whining that i hadn't been asked to do an assignment for them. then i got an email and i had to stop whining. i am loving how the layout is turning out, just waiting on the final oks before i glue everything down. and you can't see it yet. sorry.

but you can see this:

created for the journaling challenge to journal quiet or loud. it's easy to go loud, but quiet was a challenge. however, this just came together like butter, like it was meant to be. it's about my great grandfather. i think you can read the journaling if you click on the layout.

ethan and i have been walking to and from school everyday since the beginning of april. it's just over a half mile each way. and we do it even when the weather is less than pleasant. it's been really fun, we talk. monday he asked what the best part of having a boy was. i said he was the perfect little lover. he got all googly. then i asked what the best part of having a mom was. he said, "i like talking to you, you listen to me. and you make me feel safe." he added that it was the same for his dad. awww, melt my heart.

and have to add a funny annie comment. she asked about why i didn't scrapbook when she and ethan were little. i told her i couldn't cut pictures up into silhouettes, or use deco scissors. i told her the way we scrap today was much more me. she thought for a minute and then said, "so you'd call yourself a 21st century scrapbooker, huh?" love that! :)

kelly comes home tonight. he's been in san diego since saturday. it will be nice to have him home. we all miss him.

i get to go to an all day crop with a bunch of my colorado girls this saturday. that makes me happy. i need to get organized though...i always take the whole enchilada with me when i crop. and then only use 2 things. need to be better this time.

there, i feel like i've done my blogging duty. :) are you amazed?

Have fun on Saturday.

Sniff. Sniff.

Yes, I'm pouting. I don't do that much, but I hardly get to see you guys anymore, and I miss you! And sometimes you even make me scrap, which would be miraculous.

Sniff. Sniff.

yep I'm amazed.

- handing mary kay a tissue -

I like your walks with ethan. I want to find a daily thing to do with dylan each day but I haven't found it yet. this morning I rewarded him a dollar because he did everything so perfectly, timely and happily this morning.

if only I could get paid for being nice, then I'd be nice all the time. looking forward to seeing you maybe thurs and definitely sat.

that was dumb, I said "a daily thing to do with dylan each day".

I hate it that you can't go back and edit your comments.

Someone's got to ask the question: What piece are YOU playing?
(did I know you were a pianist? Sorry if I did...my mind is mush.)

Woohoo! Can't wait for Saturday (except that I need a few extra days between now and then to get my act in gear and prep something to actually work on so I don't spend the entire day just gabbing, lol!).

Like ducky, I love the whole daily walks with Ethan thing! Very cool...gonna have to think on that some because I'd love to integrate something like that into our schedule...just a matter of figuring out what to do with the other two boys while I spend one on one time with the other. ;)

Now you'd definitely be my kids piano teacher if I was local to you.

Your walks w/Ethan sound awesome. Maybe when my little guy is older.

LOVE the "you know" LO.

So glad you came back!

Congrats on the good ratings. I didn't know you are a piano teacher. I have such fond memories of my piano teacher and how dedicated he was to preparing us for contests. Making an impact, you are!

Absolutely love that layout with the circles. Love them both but that first one is one of my favorites I've ever seen you do. : ) Gorgeous.

So happy for you getting an assignment!!!

Love the pink lo. Will have to try something like that. Thanks for the inspiration.

What kind of piano lessons do you teach? My daughter just started lessons this year.
