16 years older than i was

the day she was born. obviously this picture isn't from that day, she was not this chubby on her actual birthday, but i don't have a photo scanned and i'm on a time line today, so you get one of my favorite baby pictures instead. how can you capture the last 16 years in words? i feel like i've been trying to get a lot of words down lately, words about my nana, words about how i'm really doing, words about where i'm going. lots of words. and then all of a sudden my daughter is 16 and i am full of more words, but can't seem to get them out.

it's been the best time. full of so much joy and laughter. full of awe. full of admiration. and although i'm scared to death because this is a huge letting go time, i'm so proud of who she is, i know she's going to be fine. i'm usually not an emotional momma, today i think it's ok to go with the not usual :)

she's beautiful isn't she?

I *am* an emotional Momma and my only daughter is turning 16 next week. Feeling so many of the emotions you've expressed!

When my DD started her junior year in August, I freaked out because I really only have her for two more years. I think that will hit harder than when my oldest graduates next spring. And as my little guy says "Mom, you'll be the only girl left!"

Your daughter is gorgeous, Emily!!

Happy Birthday, Annie! You're so beautiful, and I know you're awesome because of what a blessing of a mother you have! Enjoy 16! I think that's the *actual* first year of being an adult... with more responsibility. But don't tell your mom because it may scare her... LOL. :-)
