so, would you do me a favor and comment as to whether or not you've seen this post earlier in the week on the cocoa daisy blog? as a thank you, i'll pick on random commenter and send you the Birds on a Wire stamp from this month. i happen to have an extra :)
and we begin. how do you know? i start to capitalize, break into my proper english mode. i do know how :)
I'm going to take you on a walk-through of my Top Favorite Tunes layout for the February By the Numbers kit. I got the idea for this while I was laying in bed at 4:30, trying to fall back asleep. There are so many fun numbers in this kit and the add ons and I thought it would look cool to mix and match a bunch of them to make a layout. I couldn't fall back asleep so I finally crawled out of bed and went to work on arranging this. I didn't know what exactly I wanted to have my top ten be, but luckily the word "tunes" fit into the design well and I had my layout!
I started putting together various numbers, trying to balance the colors and styles, there was a lot of trial and error to get to this point, but I love how it turned out. I trimmed down this card from Jenni Bowlin so it would fit with the flower. I constantly have to remind myself it's OK to dissect scrapbook supplies, they don't HAVE to stay as they came to me. I can make them work with my design needs. Do you have that problem too?
I made a flag out of the felt strips from My Mind's Eye in the Embellishment Pack, just folded it over, glued it to the 7 Gypsies pin and cut it into a pendant shape. Easy peasy. I used the flags to fill in any empty space I had in the design.
I was rather pleased that I had the perfect spacing to suspend the Birds on a Wire stamp between two of the cards, I'm not really good at incorporating stamps into my designs, so I jumped at the opportunity! I embossed the stamp with some silver metallic Zing from American Crafts to match the #5. I love the pop it adds to the middle of the design. I'm so happy Christine is adding embossing powders to the shop! So far we have Apricot, Aqua, Butter, and Leaf. She's adding more each month, be sure to add a few to your cart, they are really fun to play with!
My final step was adding the journaling. I hand cut the frame and wrote around the outside all my favorite songs right now. I love how the pop of pink goes so well with the Sassafras flowers. I think it ties the design together nicely.
I hope you enjoyed my design process, I wish all of the layouts I create came together so easily!
Comments are welcome until Monday, Feb 20th, then I'll pick a winner.

Yes, I did see this earlier on the Cocoa Daisy blog. Love this page, however it really makes me want those JBS number tags and I missed out on the Embellishment pack. I'll be quicker next time! I'm also kicking myself for not ordering the birds on a wire stamp, so .... ;)
