admitting anything can happen

not sure when i'm going to learn my lesson. when i saw the pictures for the may studio calico kits, i was a little freaked out. the only thing that saved me from total freakdom was the little pops of red running throughout both the kit and add ons. i knew i could make it with those little pops of red. well, that and the fact that the trinkets add on had the K&Co. die cuts in it. a year ago february, the kit had included a different line of those same die cuts. they were delicious. i knew i'd have fun with them. so fast forward a couple of weeks, i now have granny's cupboard and trinkets in hand (i had some of the other elements of both knick knacks and linens and lace), i still was very unsure of what was going to happen. everything seemed so PASTEL. i don't do pastel very well. so i sat down, made a couple of mistakes and voila. i'd created a layout i LOVED. go figure. that's the first sneak i did last week. here's it companion sneak. this one uses only the main kit.

this next one, my friends, is a two page, multi-photo spread. yes. it is. and it's chockablock full of the K&Co. diecuts. chock. a. block. and yet again, i LOVE it. it uses the main granny's cupboard, linens and lace, trinkets, and knick knack. notice some stamping action going on? i even ended up liking the stamp in the main. i had complained about it a first. i shouldn't have. it's so cute!

this one is probably my favorite out of the month. ethan couldn't get the wireless printer to work so he sent me all of the poems he's written for his poetry unit in school. goodness, what a gift. this is just one of them, and it totally captures him right now. i used my wide format printer again and again, i LOVED how this one turned out. notice a trend? i used the main, trinkets, and knick knack. there are the butterflies kimber-leigh.

and finally, this little gem. i'll just say lace takes mist really well. :) uses main and trinkets.
so i'll just say it. i was wrong. this may not be my all time FAVORITE kit, but i made some dang cute layouts. and they weren't frou frou and girly layouts either. so it can be done. all you need is studio calico :)

but if you want something girlie, click here to enter a contest on rebecca's blog. today only.

and yes, i used jute twine on every layout. in love with that stuff.

Yum! And you've convinced me that I need jute. The first sneak here drew me in.

Misting the lace is brilliant.

hi emily! I love your sneaks- can't wait for the full reveal!:) I think it is so fun to create something you love when you are uncertain of the outcome will be at first... it feels like such a creative victory :)
